Amplifi Group appoints Managing Director

Following the founding of Amplifi Group in late 2021 by Mint Asset Management’s employee shareholders and Ascentro Capital Partners, we are pleased to advise that one of New Zealand’s foremost financial services leaders has been appointed to lead the Group.

Fred Ohlsson joins Amplifi as Managing Director after nearly two decades with ANZ, most recently as Melbourne-based Group Executive of ANZ’s Australia Division with responsibilities including Retail and Private Banking.

Originally from Sweden, Fred has spent much of the past decade in New Zealand with ANZ in Managing Director roles in Retail, Business Banking and Strategy. He concluded his career with ANZ in 2019 and in the interim has been providing independent consultancy services to New Zealand and Australian companies.

Fred Ohlsson holds an MBA from Bocconi University School of Management (Milan, Italy) and a Bachelor of Science in Managerial Economics from the University of Lund (Sweden). He has been a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors since 2015.

Fred’s appointment has been led by Rebecca Thomas, who remains CEO of Mint Asset Management. Rebecca is also the largest shareholder of Amplifi Group and will continue the successful growth of Mint, which is now housed in the Group.

Under Fred’s leadership the goal is to build New Zealand’s pre-eminent independent wealth management group of companies. Together Rebecca and Fred will be drawing on the capability that exists within the Mint and Amplifi teams to offer the market better solutions across the board. The Group will continue to grow organically and through acquisitions.

We would like to thank you for your support of our business through this key growth phase, which has included the New Zealand Superannuation Fund adding to its investment allocation with Mint late last year. We look forward to updating you on important developments in the Group as 2022 progresses.
